In Melanie's own words . . .
|
From as soon as I could walk and talk all I wanted to do was
be with horses, which was strange as I came from a totally non
horsey family! After many years of persuasion they finally
bought me my own pony and then it snowballed from there. I
went down the conventional routes of BHS/ABRS exams
complimented with learning my trade in showing, breeding,
breaking and schooling and then into thoroughbreds and the
world of racing and producing young athletes. However, I
always thought there was more to this horse thing and didn’t
always agree with what the so called ‘experts’ had to say!
It was during the 1980’s that I was introduced to the world of
Natural Horsemanship and a new and very exciting way to work
‘with’ my horses not forcing but making a partnership that
will last not just fix up a problem to reoccur later. I spent
many years working with many different trainers in many
countries and now teach and educate others using both natural
horsemanship and classical methods both in the UK, Europe and
USA for the last 15 years. Along the way I also studied for a
degree in Equine Science and Equine Studies.
When I found equine massage it was such a natural progression
with all that I had learnt so far on my horsey journey. It has
helped not only make the horses feel better and be calmer and
more relaxed with life but also improve how they move and
compete. It perfectly compliments how I train, understand how
and why the horse moves and want my horses to be around me.
It’s become a huge part of my life and helps balance the
horse’s emotions and physical well-being, creating a happy
horse and a happy owner.
I work closely with other professional bodies within equine
circles. I also work with in the codes of conduct of the
National Association of Registered Equine Massage Therapists
(N.A.R.E.M.T.). I work with individual cases and with groups
working all around East Anglia and beyond when required. My
aim is to provide the very best service and help to all horses
and their owners reach their full potential to see them grow
together.
