A bit about me -
For as long as I can remember I have always had a passion for
horses which has just grown stronger as I have got older. I
have tried my hand at several equestrian disciplines including
show jumping, dressage & showing. But one area that I have
found I have derived most pleasure from is the preparation
work involved in getting horses ready for any competition work
and the satisfaction of seeing a horse transformed. I have
also come to appreciate just how important it is to maintain
any horses' physical and mental well being regardless of what
discipline it takes part in. I currently own 2 horses.
Firstly, the wonderfully temperamental Sidney...a 16yr old
Warmblood X.. he is certainly unique, with an attitude only
his mother could love !! And then there is my new girl, the
lovely 16.2 Irish Sports Horse mare, Macy Grey. She is only
just 5 yrs old but is proving to be a very quick learner and a
joy to own.
Why choose Equine Massage Therapy?
As horse owners/riders we continually place physical demands
upon our horses; from the pleasure horse hacking once a week
to the serious competition horse. We constantly ask our horses
to perform and surpass our own levels of expectations which
can subsequently result in the formation of physical and/or
emotional stress; which, if left to manifest can lead to
greater and/or long term problems. ALL horses and ponies can
benefit from Equine Massage Therapy.
Working within the National Association of Equine Massage
Therapists strict code of conduct:
Equine Massage therapy is a safe, non invasive practice that
uses a variety of therapeutic applications, techniques and
stretching exercises in order to detect muscular stress and
find it's causes. These various techniques are then used to
manipulate the soft tissue structures beneath the skin to
provide the horse with both physical release and emotional
relaxation; ultimately helping to create a balanced mind and
body for the horse.
Benefits of Equine Massage Therapy
Emotional & physical re-balancing, release of muscular spasms,
promotion of optimal blood & lymphatic flow, dispersal of
trapped toxins & built up lactic acid, enhancement to horses
key working systems, increased stride & flexion ability, helps
to maintain suppleness, helps to maintain muscle tone &
prevent muscular atrophy
