I have been involved in the equestrian industry for 12 years.
I have studied several horsemanship theories and I ran a small
rehab program for four years dealing primarily with young
horses and failed sports horses. I am currently involved in a
project with my husband who is a body worker to offer body
awareness and bodywork specifically for horse riders. I
studied reflexology through the VTCT in 2005 and I practice at
Woodlands Natural Health Centre in Derby. I also have a CIBT
diploma in (human) body massage. I am a professional member
of the Federation of Holistic Therapists. I certified with
Equine Design Therapy last year and I offer sports massage to
working and retired horses I am a member of British Dressage
and I also offer remedial flatwork training as a way to
improve the relationship between horse and rider.
Most working horses will suffer from some degree of muscular
tension. My focus is primarily around those horses who display
behavioural issues. It is my firm belief that horses who
display an emotional imbalance have an equal structural
imbalance.
Chronic muscular tension has the ability, over time to pull
the bones of the skeleton out of alignment. This can lead to
over use of limbs and compensatory patterns throughout the
entire system.
Routine massage therapy can help to ensure that muscular
tension doesn't over burden the horses body, therefore
encouraging longevity of his working structure. It also helps
to keep him willing and content with his life and can help to
address the strategies that he may have needed in the past but
are now no longer useful and are preventing him from moving
forwards. I cover Derbyshire and some parts of
Nottinghamshire and Staffordshire. My current client base is
primarily around Belper area of Derbyshire where I offer
discounts if more than one person on the yard uses my
services.
I specialise in working with horses who may prove difficult to
handle/treat but who could really do with some soft tissue
work.
I also specialise in offering flatwork training to horses who
have lost their sparkle and have lost sensitivity to their
riders requests!
At 15/9/09 my standard rate is £35.00 before discount which
vary according to area etc so please contact me for further
